Alina Ujupan is a Member of Cabinet of Mrs Gabriel, Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society. Among her areas of responsibility are connectivity, EU budget, funding and finance and smart mobility. Alina has over 12 years of professional experience in EU affairs. She joined the European Commission in 2008 as part of the Economics Team of the Bureau of European Policy Advisers, the former internal think-tank of the European Commission – today the ESPC. Since 2010, Alina worked as Member of Cabinet and subsequently Deputy Head of Cabinet of Mr Dacian Ciolos, Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development (2010-2014).
Besides portfolio related expertise, Alina was responsible for economic and monetary affairs, EU budget and structural funds, energy, environment and R&D. From 2015 until joining Mrs Gabriel’s Cabinet, Alina was policy coordinator in the Secretariat General of the European Commission working in employment and social affairs, economic governance and investment. Alina has a PhD in diplomacy and a Master’s of research methods in political science.
